Casey Johnson was just 30 years old when she was found dead in L.A. on Monday; reps say she passed away of natural causes. The young socialite’s death has sparked a slew of headlines and Web searches.

Ms. Johnson was no stranger to the public eye and to controversy. An heiress to the Johnson & Johnson company fortune, her father was New York Jets owner Robert Wood Johnson. Mr. Johnson purchased the Jets in 2000 for $635 million. The Jets are currently one of 12 teams in the NFL playoffs.

Her uncle Jamie made a splash in 2003 with his documentary, “Born Rich.” In recent months, Ms. Johnson had been romantically linked and “engaged” to reality-TV star Tila Tequila. After Johnson’s passing hit the news, Tequila posted this on her Twitter page: “Everyone please pray 4 my Wifey Casey Johnson.” Web searches on “casey johnson and tila tequila” and “was casey johnson engaged to tila tequila” both surged.

Johnson also made headlines last October when she got into an altercation with then-girlfriend Courtenay Semel. People magazine reports that the troubled Johnson “was arrested for allegedly breaking into another former girlfriend’s house” in November.

Ms. Johnson was also, at one time, friends with Paris Hilton. In an article from Business Week, Johnson said that “the stupidest mistake of [her] life” was turning down the chance to co-star with Hilton on “The Simple Life.” Ms. Hilton ended up co-starring alongside Nicole Richie instead.

The investigation into Ms. Johnson’s death is ongoing. Foul play has been ruled out, but the authorities will perform tests in an attempt to explain more about her unfortunate passing. Johnson was a longtime sufferer of diabetes and her father was a supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
