Winterhouse at Cartimar

Posted by: liza on December 28th, 2011 in travel tips

Because we live in a tropical country, my honey and I would always take advantage of going to cold places every January. For us, even if we travel only in nearby countries in Asia, there’s still a huge difference in going to abroad during the cold months.

We just booked for HongKong on February 2012 (yeah third time) and I’m looking again for new boots that I could use. I’ve been traveling before and yet it’s only now that I got to discover the Winterhouse. It was featured in Mel & Jeoy and I’m sure I’ll drop by on this shop one of these days! Excited much!

Here’s the link of Mel & Joey’s episode about Winterhouse in Cartimar.

So if you’re looking for customize winter clothes and accessories, you gotta see this place!

Optimize Your Image for Fast Site Loading

Posted by: liza on November 29th, 2011 in blog

Travel blogs are boring without pictures to look at. As a travel blogger, I know the importance of visual proofs that I’ve been to a place. Thus, pictures are essential part of my posts.

However, huge pictures directly uploaded from cameras can cause the slow loading of your blog. Uploading many pictures could also slow you down in finishing a post. I know that most bloggers already know this but for those who haven’t, here are two tips that will make your life easier and your site load faster. These techniques are easy to do and can be done in no time. I always do this.

1. Utilize the Save for Web (Alt+Shift+CTRL+S) in Photoshop. Chances are, most bloggers has basic editing knowledge in Photoshop. If you are, then you might want to save your edited images via File > Save for Web and choose from the optimized results as illustrated below. As you can see, there’s a significant difference in the size of the file. The lesser the file size, the faster your site will load.

Save for Website in Photoshop

2. Use ImageMagick Mogrify to resize all images that you need to upload. All you have to do is install ImageMagick in your local and you can simply use mogify to resize all images in a single folder. So this is very easy if you have hundreds to resize.

The syntax in your command window is:

mogrify -resize 256x256 *.jpg

Imagemagick is also very useful in embedding watermarks and other image editing tasks.

Food Galore in Singapore

Posted by: liza on November 23rd, 2011 in featured

My honey and I really love to eat. But when we’re in Singapore, we didn’t ate that much since our hotel complimentary breakfast (YWCA) is often enough for our whole day tour (4-days) and they’re good ha. But we’ve also tried different street foods and dishes in Vivo City mall – where the monorail station going to Sentosa is located.

The food in Singapore is good but we don’t know if we have eaten the authentic ones. I can relate their dishes to what is being served in HongKong and Macau, only that it is mixed with Indian food. We’re actually surprised that there are more Indians there than the locales. We also visited the China Town but unfortunately, we’re not able to take some photos of out food trips there.

Anyways, here are some photos we’ve taken. Sorry I can’t provide names of the food as I can no longer remember them. I can only describe the taste, as far as I can remember.
