Moisturizer: Its Importance & Types

According to Wikipedia, “Moisturisers or moisturizers are complex mixtures of chemical agents specially designed to make the external layers of the skin (epidermis) softer and more pliable, by increasing its hydration (water content) by reducing evaporation”.
There are different types of moisturizers available for different types of skins. Basically, there are 5 skin types. These are normal, dry, oily, mixed, and sensitive. And because each type has different level of hydration requirement, we need to know what kind of moisturizer should be applied. See your skin type below and the equivalent moisturizer that you should use.
1. normal skin – water-based moisturizer
2. dry skin – cream-based moisturizer
3. oily skin – oil free moisturizer
4. mixed skin type light – hydrating moisturizer
5. sensitive skin – aroma less moisturizer
With our climate today, it is recommended that we keep the level of hydration of our skin. Our skin also needs to be watered and maintained using the commercial products available or home-made moisturizers. Nevertheless, before buying a moisturizer from your favorite brand, make sure that you know your skin type first. I bet you don’t want to flood your face with too much oil or make it look like a dried skin suffered from the dessert.
