Dinner at Sumo Sam

Hon and I both love Japanese food. After being fed up with Teriyaki Boy’s ramen and gyoza in the previous months since we discover it in Robinsons, Puerto Prinsesa, Hon finally gave in to try other Japanese restaurants. Last week we tried, Red Kimono in Glorietta, Makati and last night at Sumo Sam. In this post, as its title implies, I’ll share with you some of the food we’ve tried in Sumo Sam at SM North Esda – The Block.

While waiting for our food, I took a pic of the chopsticks and tissue so to ease the boredom a bit. The food was served 15-20 minutes after we placed our order.

We both ordered for Sizzling. Mine is the Sizzling U.S. Beef which is Php 228 (roughly $5.28) and Hon ordered for the Sizzling Salmon which is Php298 (roughly $6.83). It’s like Pepper Lunch which is also their sister company according to the waitress.

The serving of their noodles is good for 2-3 persons. Below is the photo of Beef Niki Udon Soup which costs Php318 (roughly $7.29). This tastes like Sukiyaki soup.

The bottomless Red Iced Tea is Php 99 (roughly $2.27) per glass. The sodas cost Php 78 (roughly $1.79) per glass, IIRC. While eating, we noticed that most customers don’t have drinks and just drinking service water. Maybe because of the cost of the drinks. We had 4 glass refills, though. Nothing so special about the drinks. For me, it tastes like Tokyo Tokyo’s.

Our total bill is Php 1,132.86 or roughly $25.97 including 10% service charge. Not really bad because we made our tummy happy. Their service is prompt and the staff are accommodating so the service charge is fine.

This is our first try at Sumo Sam and despite of the high price, we will definitely comeback. I would like to try their Spicy Tuna Salad next time and I think, no need to order for drinks again. =)
