Got the irritating and embarassing black underarm?

Posted by: liza on March 21st, 2010 in skin care

For most girls, having black underarm is irritating. For boys, it is a complete turn-off. It’s summer once again and long sleeves dress are certainly off for this season. It’s time to show some skin with your sleeveless dresses while beating the heat and feeling comfortable.

Girls that have black underarms look at this opportunity to be fresh as frustrating times of their lives. If you are one of them, then here are some suggestions that you can do so your black underarms won’t let you down.

1. Avoid using deodorant. I believe that deodorants are culprits to achieve that white underarms but for most girls (especially those who are perspiring a lot) this is a necessity. If you’re at home, I highly suggest that don’t apply any deodorant.

2. Do not shave. Shaving is indeed another main cause of having black underarms. Waxing can be irritating and painful but it’s worth it. If you can’t do it by yourself, try to go to experienced salon to do it for you. If you have spare money, it would also be good to remove underarm hair via laser procedure. Most beauty salon and spa are offering this service. Just be careful with the price and their procedure.  Tip: Ask for their most advance laser hair removing. I tried it before and there’s this service which is done within 5 minutes. Kinda’ expensive but worth the try since it also has reduced chicken skin.

3. Never ever use astringent. You’re already suffering from black underarms so please do not even try to irritate it more. I’ve known some girls who are trying to solve this problem by applying harmful chemicals.Believe me, they’ve suffered more.

4. Whitening Underarm Treatment. Seek help from experts about different procedures that will be applicable to you. Or, try to find products that are made to treat this area. Just read the labels.

5. Try natural solutions. The www has a lot of information for this topic. I’ll try to look for some solutions, of which ingredients can only be found in your kitchen in the coming days.

What is an Oxygen Facial?

Posted by: liza on September 05th, 2009 in skin care

I first heard the oxygen facial, 2 or 3 months ago. I heard that it is costly but has effective results especially for those who are aging and want to maintain or regain their youth.

So what is an Oxygen Facial? According to health.howstuffworks.com, “an oxygen facial delivers a mixture of hyperbaric oxygen, or pure oxygen at a high pressure, and anti-aging serum through an airbrush to the face and body.” In layman’s terms, it’s simply applying or spraying oxygen to the skin with a hardware especially created for this process.

This skin care process is explicitly bringing craze to every woman today. According to some readings, it started when Madonna announced her beauty secret in her website last year. That’s the time when the technology of oxygen facial started to boom.

I haven’t tried it since I’m still looking for a good skin care clinic to have it done for me. My current skin care center is not yet offering this service but I’m willing to switch to another if I found a good place to take care of my skin.
Nevertheless, for those who want to try it as much I do. Here are the 3 known benefits that I found in the net. Again, I haven’t tried it so I can’t guarantee the effectiveness of any of these benefits. You must also understand that we have different skin types and effect may vary according to our skin types:

1. Minimizes the appearance of wrinkles and increases circulation, which is believed to boost collagen production

2. Provides relief for those who suffer from acne or the skin disorder rosacea.

3. Moisturizes and delivers vitamins and antioxidants that help to fight aging.

Now that we both know the benefits, let’s talk about the cost. In America, where this technology originated, the cost of every session of an Oxygen Facial ranges from $150 to $300. But you must remember, that subsequent sessions and maintenance is still the key to achieve the effects that you want. So if you’re really in pursuit to getting great results from this treatment, you can prepare $2,500 to $5,000 for the package. That’s 25,000 Pesos when converted, with the current exchange rate.

Whew! That’s a lot of money at this time! While there are lots of alternatives to maintain the radiance and beauty of our skins, the stress and other elements can still contribute to losing its glow. I would like to try it though but I think I need to lend more budget for that.

For those who have tried it, can you give me any advice?

By the way, I found an interesting video of how an oxygen facial is done.

Moisturizer: Its Importance & Types

Posted by: liza on June 04th, 2009 in skin care

Why do I need to moisturize my skin?

Why do I need to moisturize my skin?

Most Filipinos don’t realized the importance of moisturizer.  So what is a moisturizer or moisturiser and why is it important?

According to Wikipedia, “Moisturisers or moisturizers are complex mixtures of chemical agents specially designed to make the external layers of the skin (epidermis) softer and more pliable, by increasing its hydration (water content) by reducing evaporation”.

There are different types of moisturizers available for different types of skins. Basically, there are 5 skin types. These are normal, dry, oily, mixed, and sensitive. And because each type has different level of hydration requirement, we need to know what kind of moisturizer should be applied. See your skin type below and the equivalent moisturizer that you should use.

1. normal skin – water-based moisturizer

2.  dry skin -  cream-based moisturizer

3. oily skin – oil free moisturizer

4. mixed skin type light -  hydrating moisturizer

5. sensitive skin – aroma less moisturizer

With our climate today, it is recommended that we keep the level of hydration of our skin. Our skin also needs to be watered and maintained using the commercial products available or home-made moisturizers. Nevertheless, before buying a moisturizer from your favorite brand, make sure that you know your skin type first. I bet you don’t want to flood your face with too much oil or make it look like a dried skin suffered from the dessert.
